Saturday Evening Towers of Light
Later Saturday night after the fun of 'Stars on Ice,' many of us went to the top of the New Yorker Hotel to see the memorial light towers on their final night. We stood together, at first silently. One by one people began to speak softly, sharing their September 11 experiences and how they felt looking downtown toward that deadly, terrible place on such a lovely April evening. We were more than fans, we were friends.
Laurie took a picture through the window, hoping she could capture even a hint of what we saw and indeed, she caught the power of what moved us. Thank you Laurie. This is a photo to treasure.
And then off to the TIck Tock Diner, back to the joy and fun that skating has
always brought each of us...with new perspective.
