Medley
At the 1993 Jr. Worlds in Seoul, Korea, Ilia made his television debut. His long program was a medley including music from E.T, Meet Me in St. Louis and also N.Y,N.Y., and his performance impressed judges and commentators alike. They described him as an 'intense fifteen year old' and praised his technique, consistency and 'gorgeous' triple jumps. His composure and confidence belied his youthful appearance; it is amazing to witness the beginnings of his awing presence on the ice and to realize that he had such focus and intent at such a young age. At 15, it was all there and his determined young face looked like a self-made promise to succeed.
